On the morning of October 2, invited by the International Joint Audit Institute of Nanjing Audit University, Dr. Zhao Shuming, the senior professor of Humanities and Social Sciences of Nanjing University, honorary dean of Nanjing University Business School, dean of Xingzhi Academy of Nanjing University, and visiting professor of Drucker School of Management, Claremont Graduate University, USA, taught the first lesson of "Self-Management" ——The Effective Executive , to new students of the International Joint Audit Institute.
The lecture was presided over by Professor Li Qianwen, member of the Party Committee and director of the Organization Department of Nanjing Audit University, and was attended by all the stuffs and students of International Joint Audit Institute.
Professor Zhao Shuming started with "What is Management" and used the theory of management by Peter Drucker, the father of modern management, focusing on six aspects below： "effective learning can be learned", "time management", "focusing on contributions", "acting your strengths", "priority first" and "effective decision-making". Together with many cases, he pointed out that the challenges of management in the 21st century related to the impact of new information technologies and the art of self-management, with higher demands on creativity, sensitivity to cultural backgrounds, commitments to sustainable development and a social conscience, thus, to succeed in the future, we need flexibility, adaptability, problem-solving skills, a multidisciplinary perspective as well as a global way of thinking.
Then, Zhao Shuming explained how to understand ourselves, care for others, learn to integrate specific guidance, and unreservedly shared his eight management insights and life thoughts:People can be shaped; Learn to be a man first; Endurance is an ability; Among three people, there is at least one who is qualified to be my teacher. To help others is to help ourselves; Powered by knowledge, insight, courage, consensus; Aim at the direction with big goals and steady paces; Become a high-quality, highly motivated, highly collaborative, highly self-disciplined "four high-level talent”. All the students benefited greatly.
After the lecture, Professor Zhao Shuming answered the students' questions patiently and specifically.
Finally, Li Min, dean of International Joint Audit Institute, expressed his heartfelt thanks to Professor Zhao Shuming for leading the "Self-Management" course.
